Type of project: Residential entrance
The entrance is the first thing anyone sees of a home, and in the heart of W1 it needs to make a statement. We were asked to dress both entrances to a London property with planters that look polished, full and welcoming all year round.
Two entrances, one impactful arrival
The client wanted planters at both entrances to the house. Two would feature classic artificial buxus for a clean, structured look. The other two would use a bespoke selection of artificial plants, designed to add texture, colour and movement. The goal was an elegant, cohesive arrival that would look its best every day, without any upkeep.
ChallengeBeautiful planting, built to stand its ground
Entrances can be exposed spots, and the main concern was wind. Tall or full planters can catch the breeze, and nobody wants a planter shifting, tipping or losing its shape outside a front door. The planting needed to stay put and look immaculate in all weathers, while still being full and impactful.
SolutionWeighted, secure and designed to last
We selected high-quality artificial buxus for two of the planters, giving a crisp, formal finish that always looks freshly clipped. For the other two, we created a bespoke plant selection, balancing height, texture and colour so each planter had its own character while still feeling part of one scheme.
To deal with the wind, every planter was heavily weighted down, so they sit firmly in place and stay stable in gusty conditions. The result is a striking, secure entrance that looks full and healthy all year round, without watering, pruning or replanting.
