Type of project: Garden Terrace Refurbishment
A feature wall — designed to impress after dark as well as in daylight.
Turn an urban eyesore into a showstopping outdoor retreat
Green Envee was commissioned to transform a neglected rooftop terrace in London into a private sanctuary. The space had real potential — but a graffiti-covered boundary wall, zero planting, and a lack of atmosphere were standing firmly in the way. The client wanted something dramatic, low-maintenance, and genuinely special.
ChallengeA blank canvas with a few complications
The existing wall was an unattractive concrete block structure that had been targeted by graffiti. Beyond the aesthetic problem, the rooftop setting presented structural and logistical considerations for installation, and the client wanted a result that would feel lush and established from day one — not a work in progress.
SolutionA feature wall — designed to impress after dark as well as in daylight
Green Envee designed and installed a full green wall, combining a rich variety of foliage textures and tones to create depth, movement, and year-round visual interest. Integrated uplighting was carefully positioned to dramatically illuminate the wall after dark, transforming the terrace into an evening entertaining space. A centrepiece was created to house a statement artwork, framed by planting and bathed in warm light — making it the undeniable focal point of the space. The result is a private urban oasis that feels a world away from the city surrounding it.
